You were savvy about the "diagonal rule"; a broomstick might just be the perfect example of a simple object made more interesting by virtue of how you are looking at it.
I love children's books and this is such a cute idea for a story. I am especially intrigued by the picture with the gloomy-looking sunflower. The atmosphere adds to her mood. When I looked at the picture, I immediately wanted to know what she and the broom were talking about.
